     Captain Henry Montagu Spencer was born on 13 November 1851.1 He was the son of Rev. Hon. Charles Frederic Octavius Spencer and Hester Eliza Fardell.1 He married Ethel Louisa Beresford, daughter of General Marcus Beresford and Caroline Fane, on 7 September 1880.1 He died on 26 October 1924 at age 72.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 5th Battalion, Gloustershire Regiment.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Worcestershire.1

     General Marcus Beresford was born on 28 July 1800 at Cork, County Cork, Ireland.2,3 He was the son of Rev. Hon. George Beresford and Susan Gorges.2 He married, firstly, Isabella Sewell, daughter of Thomas Bermingham Daly Henry Sewell and Hon. Harriet Beresford, in October 1828.2 He married, secondly, Caroline Fane, daughter of William Fane and Louisa Hay Dashwood, on 22 January 1838 at Calcutta, Bengal, India.4,5 He died on 22 March 1876 at age 75.2
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the 20th Foot.2 He was Commandant of the Bangalore.2

     Lieutenant Henry Beresford Spencer was born on 5 July 1881.1 He was the son of Captain Henry Montagu Spencer and Ethel Louisa Beresford.1 He married Dorothy Acter Ferrer, daughter of Reverend Frederick Ferrer, on 14 January 1908.1 He died on 3 September 1918 at age 37, killed in action.1
     He fought in the Boer War in 1900.1 He graduated from Brasenose College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the West Somerset Yeomanry.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Tank Corps.1 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918.1

     From 14 January 1908, her married name became Spencer.
