     Colonel Randal Gresley Ball was born on 23 July 1881.1 He was the son of Sir Robert Stawell Ball and Frances Elizabeth Steele.1 He married Evelyn Iris Holmes, daughter of Sir Robert Holmes, on 8 July 1914.1 He died on 2 August 1934 at age 53.1
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the Inniskilling Fusiliers.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded.1
