     Lt.-Cdr. Hon. John David Hotham was born on 19 April 1911.2 He was the son of Henry Edward Hotham and Ethel Lindsay Wood.2 He married Aileen Coates, daughter of Captain Harry Coates and Ethel Rose Gray Edwards, on 11 April 1939.2 He died on 24 March 1962 at age 50.2
     Lt.-Cdr. Hon. John David Hotham usually went by his middle name of David.1 On 1 December 1924 he was granted the rank of a baron's younger son.2 He fought in the Second World War.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in the Royal Navy.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (D.S.C.)1
