Agnes Christian was born on 6 October 1841 at Pitcairn IslandG.1 She was the daughter of Thursday October Christian and Mary Young.1 She married Samuel Russell Warren on 6 December 1863 at Norfolk IslandG.2 She died on 6 April 1911 at age 69 at Pitcairn IslandG.1
From 6 December 1863, her married name became Warren.2
Agnes and her husband, Samuel, would go spearfishing at night in the tidal pools. Agnes waded through the pools with her skirts tucked up, and with Sam on her shoulders, lighting their way with a flair of candlenuts strung together (called a 'rummer' on Pitcairn). In a moment of rare levity for the time, Sam would reach behind himself and touch
the warm embers to Agnes' behind, with the result that Sam got dumped in the pool. According to Island legend, this is why that pool is named 'OO-AA-OO'. Samuel and Agnes were among the second wave of returnees from Norfolk in 1864. At the age of 60, Agnes fell and lay in a paralytic condition for a few days during which she could not move or speak, and finally she died.2
