     Frances Cadwallader Erskine was born on 5 December 1840 at Campbell Town, Tasmania, Australia.2 She was the daughter of Lt.-Col. Hon. David Erskine and Anne Maria Spode.1 She married Sir Michael Henry Gallwey, son of Henry Gallwey and Margaret MacCarthy, on 22 August 1862.1 She died on 23 September 1914 at age 73 at Isle of Wight, England.1,2
     From 22 August 1862, her married name became Gallwey.

     Sir Michael Henry Gallwey was born on 4 November 1826.2 He was the son of Henry Gallwey and Margaret MacCarthy.3 He married Frances Cadwallader Erskine, daughter of Lt.-Col. Hon. David Erskine and Anne Maria Spode, on 22 August 1862.1 He died on 24 July 1912 at age 85 at Pietermaritzburg, Natal, South Africa.1,4
     He was admitted to King's Inns entitled to practise as a Barrister-at-Law.2 He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG, in 1851 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He held the office of Member of the Legislative Council (M.L.C.) [Natal] between 1857 and 1890.2 He held the office of Attorney-General [Natal].2 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1883.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.) in 1888.2 He was appointed Queen's Counsel (Q.C.) in 1888.2 He held the office of Chief Justice of Natal between 1890 and 1901.1 He was Deputy-Governor of Natal in 1897.2 He held the office of Administrator [Natal] in 1898.2
