     Margaret Douglas is the daughter of Sir James Douglas.1 She married, firstly, William Grierson of Barquhar, son of Sir Robert Grierson of Lag and Margaret Murray, circa 26 June 1654 at Mouswald, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.1,2 She married, secondly, John Grierson of Dalskairth after 1661.1
     From circa 26 June 1654, her married name became Grierson.1 She was living in 1670.2

     Sir Robert Grierson of Lag, 1st Bt. was born in 1657 at Barquhar, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.2 He was the son of William Grierson of Barquhar and Margaret Douglas.3 He married Lady Henrietta Douglas, daughter of James Douglas, 2nd Earl of Queensberry and Lady Margaret Stewart, circa 21 September 1676.4,2 He died on 31 December 1733 at Turnpike House, Dumfries, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.5 He was buried at Old Dunscore Parish Cemetery, Dunscore, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG, Note that this stone was placed in 1897, and is likely a memorial rather than the actual burial site.2
     Sir Robert Grierson of Lag, 1st Bt. also went by the nick-name of 'Auld Lag'.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dumfries-shire [Scotland] between 1678 and 1686.4 He was created 1st Baronet Grierson, of Lag, co. Dumfries [Nova Scotia] on 25 March 1685, with special remainder to his heirs male whatsoever.1 In April 1685 he presided at the trial and execution for refusing to take the adjuration oath of two women known as 'the Wigtown martyrs.4' In 1696 he was arrested for 'false coining.2' He held the office of Steward of Kirkcudbright.4

     James Grierson of Larglanglie was born circa 1630.2 He was the son of Sir Robert Grierson of Lag and Margaret Murray.1 He married Margaret Corsane, daughter of John Corsane, on 6 November 1666.1,2 He died in March 1671.2
     He was ancestor of the Griersons of Baldonell.1

     Sir William Grierson of Lag, 2nd Bt. was born circa 1677 at Rockall, Collin, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.2 He was the son of Sir Robert Grierson of Lag, 1st Bt. and Lady Henrietta Douglas.1 He married Ann Musgrave, daughter of Sir Richard Musgrave, 2nd Bt. and Dorothy James, on 29 August 1720 at Carlisle, Northumberland, EnglandG.1,2 He died in 1760, without issue.1
     He was a Commissioner of Supply in 1704.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dumfries-shire [Scotland] from 1709 to February 1711.1 In 1715 he joined the Uprising, and was captured. He was pardoned in 1724.1 He was disinherited by his father, and did not inherit his estates.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Grierson, of Lag, co. Dumfries [N.S., 1685] on 15 April 1736.1
