     Alan Cory-Wright was born on 6 March 1896.1 He was the son of Sir Arthur Cory Cory-Wright, 2nd Bt. and Elizabeth Olive Clothier.2 He married Leila Yda Cyrilla Lobb, daughter of Arthur Lobb, on 5 July 1923.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in the Royal Navy (Emergency List.)1 He fought in the First World War, where he was severely wounded, and was mentioned in despatches.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (D.S.C.) in 1918.1 He lived at Hatfield Park, Takeley, Essex, EnglandG.1
