     David Alexander Fairbairn was born on 3 September 1882.1 He was the son of Reverend Adam Henderson Fairbairn and Anna Gertrude Fuller Maitland.2 He married Emmeline Mary Coxon, daughter of Alfred Coxon, on 10 April 1920.1 He died on 30 November 1950 at age 68.1
     He gained the rank of Major in the Duke of Wellington's (West Riding) Regiment.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1919.1

     Emmeline Mary Coxon was the daughter of Alfred Coxon.2 She married, firstly, Captain T. A. Abbott before 1920.1 She married, secondly, David Alexander Fairbairn, son of Reverend Adam Henderson Fairbairn and Anna Gertrude Fuller Maitland, on 10 April 1920.1 She died in 1964.1
     From before 1920, her married name became Abbott.1 From 10 April 1920, her married name became Fairbairn.

     Norman David Nigel Fairbairn was born on 3 March 1921.1 He is the son of David Alexander Fairbairn and Emmeline Mary Coxon.2 He married Mary Josephine Hillaby, daughter of Hector Hillaby, on 20 October 1951.1
     He was educated at Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of officer between 1939 and 1943 in the Union Defence Force, South African Artillery.1 He graduated from Cape Town University, Cape Town, Cape Province, South AfricaG, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He gained the rank of officer in 1943 in the Royal Artillery.1 He gained the rank of officer in 1944 in the 17th/21st Lancers.1 He was registered as a Associate, Royal Institute of British Architects (A.R.I.B.A.)1

     From 20 October 1951, her married name became Fairbairn.
