Commander Spencer Dundas Forbes was born on 29 May 1874.1 He was the son of George Edward Forbes and Louisa Lillias Trotter.2 He married Ethel Walker, daughter of Lt.-Col. James Selby Walker, on 21 February 1913.1 He died on 1 November 1914 at age 40, on active service aboard H.M.S. Monmouth, during the Battle of Coronel.1
