     Roger le Bigod, 5th Earl of Norfolk was born in 1245 at Thetford, Norfolk, England.2 He was the son of Sir Hugh le Bigod and Joan de Stuteville.3 He married Aliva Basset, daughter of Philip Basset.1 He married Alix d'Avesnes, daughter of Jean II d'Avesnes, Comte de Hainaut et Graaf van Holland en Zeeland and Philippine von Luxemburg, in 1290.2 He died on 7 December 1306.2
     He gained the title of 5th Earl of Norfolk.3

     Joan de Stuteville was the daughter of Nicholas de Stuteville and Devorguilla of Galloway.1,2 She married Hugh Wake, son of Baldwin Wake and Isabel de Briwere, before 29 May 1229.3 She married, secondly, Sir Hugh le Bigod, son of Hugh le Bigod, 3rd Earl of Norfolk and Matilda Marshal, from 1241 to 5 February 1243/44.1 She died in 1276.3
     From before 29 May 1229, her married name became Wake.
