     John Bourke, 4th Earl of Mayo was born on 18 June 1766.1 He was the son of Most Rev. Joseph Deane Bourke, 3rd Earl of Mayo and Elizabeth Meade.1 He married Arabella Mackworth-Praed, daughter of William Mackworth-Praed and Susannah Stokes, on 24 May 1792.1 He died on 23 May 1849 at age 82, without issue.1
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Naas between 1780 and 1794.1 He succeeded as the 4th Earl of the County of Mayo [I., 1785] on 20 August 1794.1 He succeeded as the 4th Viscount Mayo of Monycrower, co. Mayo [I., 1781] on 20 August 1794.1 He succeeded as the 4th Baron Naas of Naas, co. Kildare [I., 1776] on 20 August 1794.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] in 1810.1 He was appointed Representative Peer [Ireland] between 1816 and 1849.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Hanoverian Order (G.C.H.) in 1819.1
