     From 4 September 1889, her married name became Napier.

     Brigadier Arthur Francis Scott Napier was born on 20 September 1890.1 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. William John Napier and Maud Denison Gooch Holbrook.2 He married Phyllis Grace Fleming, daughter of Edward Fleming, on 15 November 1915.1 He died in 1971.1
     He was educated at Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berkshire, England.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Brigadier in the Royal Artillery.1 He gained the rank of Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel in 1933.1 He was Chief Instructor between 1936 and 1938 at Military College of Science, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Brevet Colonel in 1937.1 He was member of the Ordnance Committee between 1938 and 1939.1 He was Military Adviser, Ministry of Supply between 1940 and 1946.1 He held the office of Member of the Dorset County Council between 1949 and 1955.1

     Margaret Esmé Scott Napier was born on 30 December 1920. She was the daughter of Brigadier Arthur Francis Scott Napier and Phyllis Grace Fleming.2 She married, firstly, Captain Ephraim Stewart Cook Spence, son of A. T. G. Spence, on 18 May 1942.1 She and Captain Ephraim Stewart Cook Spence were divorced in 1946.1 She married, secondly, Major Alexander Napier, son of Archibald Scott Napier and Katherine Edith Liveing, on 21 September 1946.1 She married, thirdly, John Whittingdale, son of John Flasby Lawrance Whittingdale, on 30 December 1957.1 She died on 7 April 2020 at age 99.3
     Margaret Esmé Scott Napier also went by the nick-name of Spence.1 From 18 May 1942, her married name became Spence.1 From 30 December 1957, her married name became Whittingdale. She lived in 2003 at Runnymede, 69 Newland, Sherborne, Dorset, England.1
