     John Temple was the son of Sir William Temple, 1st and last Bt. and Dorothy Osborne.1 He married Marie du Plessis-Rambouillet, daughter of Paul du Plessis-Rambouillet, in 1685 at Paris, France.1 He died in 1689, by suicide.1
     He held the office of Paymaster-General.2 He held the office of Secretary of State for War in 1689.2
