     Sir William Selby Church, 1st Bt. was born on 4 December 1837 at Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England.1 He was the son of John Church and Isabella Selby.1 He married Sybil Constance Bigge, daughter of Charles John Bigge and Lewis Marianne Selby, on 14 July 1875.2 He died on 27 April 1928 at age 90.1
     He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)2 He was appointed Fellow, Royal College of Physicians, London (F.R.C.P.) in 1870.2 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) by Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.2 He held the office of President of the Royal College of Physicians between 1899 and 1905.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Hertfordshire.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)1 He was created 1st Baronet Church, of Oxford [U.K.] on 8 March 1901.2
