     Georg Wilhelm Landgraf von Hessen-Darmstadt was born on 11 July 1722.2 He was the son of Ludwig VIII Landgraf von Hessen-Darmstadt and Charlotte Gräfin zu Hanau-Lichtenberg.1 He married Marie Luise Gräfin zu Leiningen-Dagsburg-Heidesheim, daughter of Christian Karl Reinhard Graf zu Leiningen-Dagsburg-Heidesheim and Katherine Polyxene Gräfin zu Solms-Rödelheim und Assenheim, on 15 March 1748. He died on 21 June 1782 at age 59.2

He married Dorothea von Salviati, daughter of Alexander Hermann Heinrich August von Salviati and Helene Crasemann, on 3 June 1933 at Bonn, Nordrhein-Westfahlen, Germany.1 He died on 26 May 1940 at age 33 at Nivelles, Hainau, Belgium, from wounds received in action.1

He married Kira Kirillovna Romanov, Grand Duchess of Russia, daughter of Kirill Vladmirovich Romanov, Grand Duke of Russia and Victoria Melita Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Princess of the United Kingdom, on 2 May 1938 at Cecilienhof Palace, Potsdam, Brandenburg, Germany, in a civil and Orthodox marriage, They were remarried two days later in a Lutheran ceremony, at Doorn.1 He died on 27 September 1994 at age 86.

He married, firstly, Maria-Anna Sybilla Margaretha von Humboldt-Dachroeden, Baroness von Humboldt-Dachroeden, daughter of Alexander Wilhelm Ernst Bernhard Baron von Humboldt-Dachroeden and Katharina Daum, on 29 December 1941 at Oels Castle, Oels, Silesia, Germany.1 He and Maria-Anna Sybilla Margaretha von Humboldt-Dachroeden, Baroness von Humboldt-Dachroeden were divorced on 4 January 1943.2 He married, secondly, Magdalene Pauline Prinzessin Reuss zu Köstritz, daughter of Heinrich XXXVI Prinz Reuss zu Köstritz and Hermine Prinzessin von Schönburg-Waldenburg, on 5 June 1943 at Schloss Prillwitz, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany.1 He died on 8 April 1950 at age 40 at Windhoek, Namibia.1
