He married Alexandra Friederike Wilhelmine von Holstein-Gottorp, Herzogin von Oldenburg, daughter of Constantine Friedrich Peter von Holstein-Gottorp, Herzog von Oldenburg and Therese Prinzessin von Nassau-Weilburg, on 5 February 1856 [25 Jan 1856 O.S.] at St. Petersburg, RussiaG.2 He died on 25 April 1891 at age 59 at Tsarskoie Selo, RussiaG.2
     He gained the title of Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolaievich of Russia.3

He married Cäcilie Olga Prinzessin von Baden, daughter of Leopold I Großherzog von Baden and Sophie Wilhelmine von Holstein-Gottorp, Princess of Sweden, on 28 August 1857 at St. Petersburg, RussiaG.2 He died on 18 December 1909 at age 77 at Cannes, FranceG.2
     He gained the title of Grand Duke Mikhail Nikolaeivich of Russia.3
