     Colonel William Patrick Arbuthnot was born on 28 April 1878.1 He was the son of Major Archibald Ernest Arbuthnot and Anne Elizabeth Ball.1 He married Olive Walker, daughter of Hon. William Gregory Walker, on 30 June 1904.1 He died on 12 August 1949 at age 71.1
     Colonel William Patrick Arbuthnot gained the rank of Colonel in the service of the Royal Marines.1 He fought in the First World War, with the 4th Cruiser Squadron and 1st Battle Squadron.1
