     Sir George Compton Archibald Arthur, 3rd Bt. was born on 30 April 1860.1 He was the son of Colonel Sir Frederick Leopold Arthur, 2nd Bt. and Lady Elizabeth Hay-Drummond.1 He married Kate Harriet Brandon, daughter of Horatio Brandon, on 11 August 1898.1 He died on 14 January 1946 at age 85, without issue.1
     He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Arthur, of Upper Canada [U.K., 1841] on 1 June 1878.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 2nd Life Guards.1 He fought in the Egypt Campaign in 1882.1 He fought in the Nile Expedition between 1884 and 1885.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Hertfordshire Imperial Yeomanry.1 He gained the rank of Honorary Captain.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1901.1 He was appointed Member, Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.) in 1909.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He was Personal Private Secretary to the Secretary of State, War between 1914 and 1916.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society of Literature (F.R.S.L.)1

     Kate Harriet Brandon was the daughter of Horatio Brandon.1 She married Arthur Raymond Yates.1 She married Sir George Compton Archibald Arthur, 3rd Bt., son of Colonel Sir Frederick Leopold Arthur, 2nd Bt. and Lady Elizabeth Hay-Drummond, on 11 August 1898.1 She died on 28 January 1950.1
     Her married name became Yates.1 From 11 August 1898, her married name became Arthur.1

     He gained the rank of Captain in the Prince Consort's Own Rifle Brigade.1 He held the office of Colonial Secretary to the Gold Coast.1 He held the office of Private Secretary to the Governor-General of Australia.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.)1

     From 28 April 1881, her married name became Darby.1
