     George Arthur Arthur was born on 19 January 1851.1 He was the son of Colonel Edward Penfold Arthur and Emma Isabella Wilson Souter.1 He married Helen Thomson, daughter of Neale Thomson, on 19 August 1873.1 He died on 20 September 1878 at age 27.1

     Colonel Edward Penfold Arthur was born on 24 February 1825.1 He was the son of Lt.-Gen. Rt. Hon. Sir George Arthur, 1st Bt. and Eliza Ord Ussher Smith.1 He married Emma Isabella Wilson Souter, daughter of Captain Thomas Alexander Souter, in 1847.1 He died on 9 June 1870 at age 45.1
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the Bombay Staff Corps.1

     Lt.-Gen. Rt. Hon. Sir George Arthur, 1st Bt. was born on 21 June 1784.2 He was the son of John Arthur and Catherine Cornish.2 He married Eliza Ord Ussher Smith, daughter of Lt.-Gen. Sir John Frederick Sigismund Smith, in May 1814.2 He died on 19 September 1854 at age 70.2
     He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor of Honduras.2 He was appointed Knight in 1837.2 He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor of Van Dieman's Land.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Hanoverian Order (K.C.H.)2 He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor of Upper Canada.2 He was created 1st Baronet Arthur, of Upper Canada [U.K.] on 5 June 1841.2 He held the office of Governor of Bombay.2 He was Colonel of the 50th Regiment.2 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Civil Law (D.C.L.)2 He held the office of Governor-General of India in 1846, acting.2 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.3
