     Sir John Bamfeild, 1st Bt. was born circa 1610.¹ He was the son of John Bamfeild and Elizabeth Drake.¹ He married Gertrude Coplestone, daughter of Amyan Coplestone and Gertrude Chichester, on 3 May 1637.¹ He died in April 1650.¹ He was buried at Poltimore, Devon, England.¹

     Sir Coplestone Bamfylde, 2nd Bt. succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Bamfylde, of Poltimore, co. Devon [E., 1641] in April 1650.¹ He matriculated at Corpus Christi College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, on 20 March 1650/51.¹
