     William Banks was born circa 1719.1 He was the son of Joseph Banks. He married Sarah Bate, daughter of William Bate.2 He died in 1761.1

     Sir Alexander Bannerman of Elsick, 1st Bt. was the son of Alexander Bannerman of Elsick and Marion Hamilton.1 A contract for the marriage of Sir Alexander Bannerman of Elsick, 1st Bt. and Margaret Scott was signed on 15 February 1670.1 He died on 11 April 1711.1
     He was created 1st Baronet Bannerman, of Elsick, co. Kincardine [Nova Scotia] on 28 December 1682, "on account of his constant loyalty during the rebellion and of the heavy calamities he had suffered on that account."1
