     Sir Alexander Bannerman of Elsick, 1st Bt. was the son of Alexander Bannerman of Elsick and Marion Hamilton.1 A contract for the marriage of Sir Alexander Bannerman of Elsick, 1st Bt. and Margaret Scott was signed on 15 February 1670.1 He died on 11 April 1711.1
     He was created 1st Baronet Bannerman, of Elsick, co. Kincardine [Nova Scotia] on 28 December 1682, 'on account of his constant loyalty during the rebellion and of the heavy calamities he had suffered on that account.1'

     Margaret Scott was the daughter of Patrick Scott of Tanlawhill and Isabel Murray.1 A contract for the marriage of Margaret Scott and Sir Alexander Bannerman of Elsick, 1st Bt. was signed on 15 February 1670.1
     From 15 February 1670, her married name became Bannerman.1
