     Robert Vans Agnew of Barnbarroch and Sheuchan was born on 4 March 1817.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Patrick Vans Agnew of Barnbarroch and Sheuchan and Catherine Fraser.1 He married Mary Elizabeth Hunter Blair, daughter of Sir David Hunter Blair of Blairquhan, 3rd Bt. and Elizabeth Hay, on 22 April 1852 at St. George's Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, EnglandG.1,2 He died on 26 September 1893 at age 76.1
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Wigtownshire between 1873 and 1880.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1

     Mary Elizabeth Hunter Blair was born on 7 July 1830.2 She was the daughter of Sir David Hunter Blair of Blairquhan, 3rd Bt. and Elizabeth Hay.1 She was baptised on 28 August 1830 at Stration, Ayrshire, Scotland.2 She married Robert Vans Agnew of Barnbarroch and Sheuchan, son of Lt.-Col. Patrick Vans Agnew of Barnbarroch and Sheuchan and Catherine Fraser, on 22 April 1852 at St. George's Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, EnglandG.1,3 She died on 2 August 1870 at age 40.1
     From 22 April 1852, her married name became Vans Agnew.1

     He gained the rank of Captain in the 3rd Battalion, Rifle Brigade.1

John Vans Agnew of Barnbarroch and Sheuchan was born on 23 August 1859.1 He was the son of Robert Vans Agnew of Barnbarroch and Sheuchan and Mary Elizabeth Hunter Blair.1 He married Ada Sybil Bates, daughter of Robert Bates, on 10 December 1891.1 He died on 7 October 1943 at age 84, without issue.1

     Ada Sybil Bates was the daughter of Robert Bates.1 She married Lt.-Col. John Vans Agnew of Barnbarroch and Sheuchan, son of Robert Vans Agnew of Barnbarroch and Sheuchan and Mary Elizabeth Hunter Blair, on 10 December 1891.1 She died in October 1941.1
     From 10 December 1891, her married name became Vans Agnew.1
