     Sir Robert James Black, 1st Bt. was born on 19 July 1860.1 He was the son of Robert John Black and Rosa Sinclair Blow.1 He married Ellen Cecilia La Touche, daughter of Lt.-Gen. William Paget La Touche, on 26 December 1890. He died on 28 September 1925 at age 65.1
     Sir Robert James Black, 1st Bt. was a director of Shell Transport.1 He was chairman of the Mercantile Bank of India.1 He was created 1st Baronet Black, of Midgham, co. Berks [U.K.] on 19 June 1922.1
