     Edward Boyd of Mertonhall was born on 3 September 1770.1 He was the son of Rev. Dr. William Boyd of Myrton and Joanna Maitland.1 He married Janet Yule, daughter of Benjamin Yule, on 15 November 1797.1 He died on 27 August 1846 at age 75.1
     Edward Boyd of Mertonhall held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.).1
