     Maj.-Gen. Merton Beckwith-Smith was born in 1890.1 He was the son of Beckwith Beckwith-Smith and Georgina Butler Moore.1 He married Honor Dorothy Leigh, daughter of John Blundell Leigh, on 14 March 1918.1 He died on 11 November 1942 at POW camp, Japan.1
     Maj.-Gen. Merton Beckwith-Smith was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.1 He was educated at Christ Church College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He was decorated with the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1914.1 He gained the rank of Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel.1 He was decorated with the Military Cross (M.C.).1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Coldstream Guards.1 He fought in the Second World War, and was captured as a POW.1 He was commander of the 1st Guards Brigade between 1939 and 1940.1 He was decorated with the Croix de Guerre (French).1 He lived at The Manor House, Stratton Audley, Oxfordshire, England.1 He was commander of the 18th Division in 1942.1

     Honor Dorothy Leigh was the daughter of John Blundell Leigh.1 She married Maj.-Gen. Merton Beckwith-Smith, son of Beckwith Beckwith-Smith and Georgina Butler Moore, on 14 March 1918.1 She died on 25 December 1982.1
     From 14 March 1918, her married name became Beckwith-Smith.1 She was invested as a Companion, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (C.St.J.).1 She was invested as a Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1945.1

     Susan Elaine Parkes is the daughter of Sidney Edward Parkes.1 She married John Moore Beckwith-Smith, son of Maj.-Gen. Merton Beckwith-Smith and Honor Dorothy Leigh, on 30 September 1954.
     From 30 September 1954, her married name became Beckwith-Smith.1

     Lady Serena Mary Bridgeman was born on 1 July 1949.1 She was the daughter of Sir Gerald Michael Orlando Bridgeman, 6th Earl of Bradford and Mary Willoughby Montgomery.1 She married Richard Arnold Andrew, son of John Ramsay Andrew, on 27 April 1978.1 She and Richard Arnold Andrew were divorced in 1989.1 She died on 16 January 2001 at age 51.1
     From 27 April 1978, her married name became Andrew.1 On 1989 her name was legally changed to Bridgeman.1
