     Sir John Henry Geers Cotterell, 6th Bt. was born on 8 May 1935.1 He is the son of Lt.-Col. Sir Richard Charles Geers Cotterell, 5th Bt. and Lady Lettice Lygon.2,3 He married Vanda Alexandra Clare Bridgewater, daughter of Major Philip Alexander Clement Bridgewater, on 7 October 1959.1
     Sir John Henry Geers Cotterell, 6th Bt. usually went by his middle name of Henry.1 He was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.1 He was commissioned in 1955, in the service of the Royal Horse Guards.1 He retired from the military in 1961.1 He held the office of Member of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire County Council between 1977 and 1981.1 He succeeded to the title of 6th Baronet Cotterell, of Garnons, Herefordshire [U.K., 1805] on 5 December 1978.1 He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Herefordshire in 1998.1 He lived in 2003 at Downshill House, Bishopstone, Herefordshire, England.1

     Vanda Alexandra Clare Bridgewater is the daughter of Major Philip Alexander Clement Bridgewater.1 She married Sir John Henry Geers Cotterell, 6th Bt., son of Lt.-Col. Sir Richard Charles Geers Cotterell, 5th Bt. and Lady Lettice Lygon, on 7 October 1959.2
     Vanda Alexandra Clare Bridgewater usually went by her middle name of Alexandra.2 Her married name became Cotterell. She held the office of High Sheriff of Herefordshire and Worcestershire in 1992.2 She was invested as a Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1998.2
