     Robert Edward Peter Gascoyne-Cecil, 6th Marquess of Salisbury was born on 24 October 1916.1 He was the son of Robert Arthur James Gascoyne-Cecil, 5th Marquess of Salisbury and Elizabeth Vere Cavendish.1 He married Marjorie Olein Wyndham-Quin, daughter of Captain Hon. Valentine Maurice Wyndham-Quin and Marjorie Elizabeth Pretyman, on 18 December 1945.3 He died on 11 July 2003 at age 86.4
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Grenadier Guards.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Bournemouth West between February 1950 and January 1954.1 He succeeded to the title of 12th Earl of Salisbury [E., 1605] on 23 February 1972.1 He succeeded to the title of 12th Baron Cecil of Essendon, co. Rutland [E., 1603] on 23 February 1972.1 He succeeded to the title of 12th Viscount Cranborne, co. Dorset [E., 1604] on 23 February 1972.1 He succeeded to the title of 6th Marquess of Salisbury [G.B., 1789] on 23 February 1972.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Dorset in 1974.1 He lived in 2003 at Hatfield House, Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England.1

Alice Margaret Stanley, on 25 April 1889.1 She died on 2 August 1948.
