     Sir John Blunden, 1st Bt. was the son of John Blunden and Martha Cuffe.1 He married Hon. Lucy Susanna Cuffe, daughter of John Cuffe, 1st Baron Desart and Dorothea Gorges, on 25 February 1755.1 He died in January 1783 at Castle Blunden, County Kilkenny, Ireland.1,2 His will (dated 8 June 1782) was probated on 14 February 1783.2
     Sir John Blunden, 1st Bt. was admitted to Middle Temple on 16 November 1739.2 He was a practising barrister in 1744.1 He held the office of Mayor of Kilkenny from 1753 to 1754.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Kilkenny city [Ireland] between 1761 and 1766.1,2 He held the office of Recorder of Kilkenny.2 He was created 1st Baronet Blunden, of Castle Blunden, co. Kilkenny [Ireland] on 12 March 1766.1
     He also had five daughters.1
