Joseph Charles Smijth-Windham was born on 14 March 1838.1 He was the son of Joseph Smijth-Windham and Katherine Trotter.1 He married, firstly, Emily Harriet Champion de Crespigny, daughter of Sir Claude William Champion de Crespigny, 3rd Bt., on 25 October 1876.1 He married, secondly, Frances Helen Currey, daughter of William Currey, on 11 May 1886.1 He died on 16 April 1915 at age 77.1
