     Caroline Smijth was born on 12 April 1796.1 She was the daughter of Sir William Smijth, 7th Bt. and Anne Windham.1 She married, firstly, Augustus James Champion de Crespigny, son of Sir William Champion de Crespigny, 2nd Bt., on 29 August 1817.1 She married, secondly, Herbert Joseph Champion de Crespigny, son of Sir William Champion de Crespigny, 2nd Bt., after 1825.1 She died on 25 January 1876 at age 79.1
     From 29 August 1817, her married name became Champion de Crespigny.1
