     Edward Bowyer-Smijth was born illegitimately, but legitimised in Scotland in 1918 on 20 October 1867.1 He was the son of Sir William Bowyer-Smijth, 11th Bt. and Eliza Fechnie Malcolm.1 He died on 22 January 1899 at age 31.1

     Miriam McCheyne Battye was the daughter of Major Legh Richmond Battye.1 She married David Malcolm Bowyer-Smijth, son of Sir William Bowyer-Smijth, 11th Bt. and Eliza Fechnie Malcolm, on 10 November 1901.1 She and David Malcolm Bowyer-Smijth were divorced in 1910.1 She died in December 1942.1
     From 10 November 1901, her married name became Bowyer-Smijth.1
