     Kenneth Mackenzie, 1st Lord Mackenzie of Kintail was born illegitimately before 1584.1 He was the son of Sir Colin Mackenzie of Kintail and Barbara Grant.2,3 He married, firstly, Anne Ross, daughter of George Ross.4 He married, secondly, Isabel Ogilvy, daughter of Sir Gilbert Ogilvy of Powrie, before 12 March 1607.5 He died on 27 February 1610/11.1
     Kenneth Mackenzie, 1st Lord Mackenzie of Kintail held the office of Hereditary Constable of the Castle of the Bishop of Ross in 1595.1 He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] in February 1595/96.1 He was created 1st Lord Mackenzie of Kintail [Scotland] on 17 November 1609.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Inverness-shire in 1610.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Nairn-shire in 1610.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Cromarty in 1610.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Elgin in 1610.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Fife in 1610.1
     He also had two younger sons by his first wife and another son (died young) by his second wife.1
