     Lt.-Col. James Archibald Innes was the son of James Innes.2 He married, firstly, Lady Barbara Lowther, daughter of Lancelot Edward Lowther, 6th Earl of Lonsdale and Gwendoline Sophia Alice Sheffield, on 18 April 1914.2 He married, secondly, Evelyn Adelaide Dawnay, daughter of Nigel William Dawnay and Daisy Rosalie Norman Dunnett, on 16 March 1927.3 He and Lady Barbara Lowther were divorced in 1921.2 He died on 16 August 1948.3
     He was decorated with the award of the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.).1 He lived at Horringer Manor, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, England.1
