     Basil Brooke was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He was attainted by King James II.1 He succesfully defended Donegal against the Jacobite Army under Sarsfield.1
     He was ancestor of the Brookes of Donegal.1
