     Sir Alexander Broun of Bassendean, 4th Bt. was the son of Alexander Broun and Catharine Swinton.1 He married Beatrix Swinton, daughter of Sir Alexander Swinton, Lord Mersington, on 3 November 1706.1,2 He died in 1750.1
     Sir Alexander Broun of Bassendean, 4th Bt. succeeded to the title of 4th Baronet Broun, of Coulston, co. Haddington [N.S., 1686] in 1734.1

     Sir Alexander Broun of Bassingdean, 5th Bt. was the son of Sir Alexander Broun of Bassendean, 4th Bt. and Beatrix Swinton.1 He married Mally Colquhoun, daughter of Adam Colquhoun, in 1755.1 He died in 1776, without male issue.1
     Sir Alexander Broun of Bassingdean, 5th Bt. succeeded to the title of 5th Baronet Broun, of Coulston, co. Haddington [N.S., 1686] in 1750.1
     On his death, his baronetcy became dormant for over 50 years.1
