     Sir John Nicolson of Lasswade, 5th Bt. was the son of Sir William Nicolson of Lasswade, 4th Bt. and Elizabeth Trotter.2 He died circa October 1689, without male issue.1 He was buried on 30 October 1689.1
     Sir John Nicolson of Lasswade, 5th Bt. succeeded to the title of 5th Baronet Nicolson, of Lasswade, Midlothian [N.S., 1629] in January 1687.1

     Sir James Nicolson of Lasswade, 7th Bt. was the son of Sir William Nicolson of Lasswade, 4th Bt. and Elizabeth Trotter.2 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Carnegie, daughter of James Carnegie of Craigs.1 He married, firstly, Isabel Simpson, daughter of Henry Simpson, on 16 December 1721.1 He died in May 1743, without issue.1
     Sir James Nicolson of Lasswade, 7th Bt. succeeded to the title of 7th Baronet Nicolson, of Lasswade, Midlothian [N.S., 1629] circa April 1693.1 On his death his baroentcy became dormant, although it was assumed from by at least three generations of Nicolsons of a branch descended from a younger brother of the grantee's fatger.1
