     Sir John Forbes of Craigievar, 2nd Bt. was born in 1636.3 He is the son of Sir William Forbes of Craigievar, 1st Bt. and Bethia Murray.2 He married Margaret Young, daughter of unknown Young of Auldbar, circa 1659.3 He died in 1703.3
     Sir John Forbes of Craigievar, 2nd Bt. also went by the nick-name of 'The Red Sir John'. He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Forbes, of Craigievar [N.S., 1630].3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Aberdeenshire [Scotland] in 1689.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Aberdeenshire [Scotland] between 1689 and 1702.3

     Mary Buchan is the daughter of Major James Buchan, 11th of Auchmacoy and Mary Forbes.1 She married James Gordon, 1st of Banchory, son of James Gordon, 1st of Ardmealie, on 13 April 1739.1
     From 13 April 1739, her married name became Gordon.1
