     Major James Buchan, 11th of Auchmacoy was the son of James Buchan, 10th of Auchmacoy and Jean Fraser.1 He married Mary Forbes, daughter of Sir John Forbes of Craigievar, 2nd Bt..1 He died in 1726.1
     Major James Buchan, 11th of Auchmacoy gained the rank of Major in the service of the Jacobite Army, under his uncle, Maj.-Gen. Thomas Buchan.1 He gained the rank of officer in the service of the French Army, under King Louis XIV.1

     Maj.-Gen. Thomas Buchan was the son of James Buchan, 8th of Auchmacoy and Margaret Seton.1 He married Elizabeth Urquhart, daughter of Patrick Urquhart, 18th of Meldrum and Lady Margaret Ogilvy.1 He died in 1721.1
     In 1689 he was appointed by King James VII (Jacobite) as commander of all Jacobite forces in Scotland.1 He fought in the Battle of the Haughs of Cromdale in 1690, where he was defeated by the Williamites.1
