     Hon. James Stuart Erskine was born on 4 September 1821.1 He was the son of David Montagu Erskine, 2nd Baron Erskine of Restormel Castle and Frances Cadwallader.1 He married Wilhelmina Clemens, daughter of Anton Joseph Clemens, on 27 February 1849.1 He died on 4 June 1904 at age 82.1
