     David Wemyss was the son of Sir David Wemyss of Wemyss and Mariota Towers. He married, firstly, Margaret Cunningham in 1553. He married, secondly, Janet Bethune, daughter of John Bethune of Balfarg and Helen Melville, in 1577.1 He died in February 1593/94.

     Janet Bethune was born circa 1520.1 She was the daughter of John Bethune of Balfarg and Helen Melville.1 She married, firstly, Robert Lundie, 2nd of Conland.1 She married, secondly, David Wemyss, son of Sir David Wemyss of Wemyss and Mariota Towers, in 1577.1 She died on 22 January 1579.1
     Her married name became Lundie.1 Her married name became Wemyss.
