     Sir Thomas Potter was born on 5 April 1774 at Tadcaster, Yorkshire, England.1 He was the son of John Potter and Anne Hartley.1 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Palmer, daughter of John Westorby Palmer, on 8 January 1808.1 He married, secondly, Esther Bayley, daughter of Thomas Bayley and Mary Kennedy, on 24 September 1812 at Collegiate Church, Manchester, Lancashire, England. He died on 20 March 1845 at age 70 at Buile Hill, Pendelton, Manchester, Lancashire, England.1 He was buried at Ardwick Cemetery, Manchester, Lancashire, England.1
     He lived in 1802 at Manchester, Lancashire, England.1 He held the office of Mayor of Manchester on 15 December 1838.1 He was invested as a Knight on 1 July 1840.1
