     John Campbell of Succoth was born circa 1645.1 He was the son of William Campbell of Succoth and Lillias Houstoun.2 He married, firstly, Janet Hamilton, daughter of James Hamilton, in 1670.1 He married, secondly, Agnes Stirling, daughter of William Stirling of Law, before 1677.1
     John Campbell of Succoth was a practising writer (legal practitioner) at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1 Between 1672 and 1677 he recorded his arms.1 He held the office of Burgess of Glasgow in 1679.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Argyll [Scotland] from 1681 to 1682.1 In 1687 he bought the Garscube estate from Sir James Colquhoun of Luss, 4th Bt.1

     William Campbell of Succoth was born circa 1679.1 He was the son of John Campbell of Succoth and Agnes Stirling.2 He married Margaret Walkinshaw, daughter of John Walkinshaw of Barrowfield, in 1701.1 He died in 1764.1
     In 1689 he had disposition of Garscube but resigned all his lands to the Crown 1707 for regrant as the free (territorial) Barony of Succoth.1 He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor of Dumbarton Castle between 1708 and 1764.1
