     Isabel Balfour is the daughter of Robert Balfour, Lord Balfour of Burleigh and Margaret Balfour, Baroness Balfour of Burleigh.2,1 She married Thomas Ruthven, 1st Lord Ruthven of Freeland, son of William Ruthven and Isabella Fothringham.1

     David Ruthven, 2nd Lord Ruthven of Freeland was the son of Thomas Ruthven, 1st Lord Ruthven of Freeland and Isabel Balfour.2 He died in April 1701, unmarried.1
     David Ruthven, 2nd Lord Ruthven of Freeland succeeded to the title of 2nd Lord Ruthven of Freeland [S., 1651] on 6 May 1671.1 On 26 October 1674 he entailed his estates, failing his own issue, on his sisters and their issue, with precedence to the youngest.1 He held the office of Lord of the Privy Counsel in 1689.1

     Sir William Cunninghame of Cunninghamehead, 3rd Bt. married Anne Ruthven, daughter of Thomas Ruthven, 1st Lord Ruthven of Freeland and Isabel Balfour, in August 1661.1 He died in April 1671.1
     Sir William Cunninghame of Cunninghamehead, 3rd Bt. succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet Cunninghame.1

     Sir William Ruthven of Cunninghamehead, 4th Bt. was the son of Sir William Cunninghame of Cunninghamehead, 3rd Bt. and Anne Ruthven.2 He married Anne Stewart, daughter of Sir Archibald Stewart of Castlemilk, Bt..1 He died in October 1722, without issue.1
     Sir William Ruthven of Cunninghamehead, 4th Bt. was baptised with the name of William Cunninghame.1 He succeeded to the title of 4th Baronet Cunninghame.1 On after April 1722 his name was legally changed to William Ruthven.1
     On his death, his baronetcy became dormant.1

     Anne Ruthven was the daughter of Thomas Ruthven, 1st Lord Ruthven of Freeland and Isabel Balfour.2 She married, firstly, Sir William Cunninghame of Cunninghamehead, 3rd Bt. in August 1661.1 She married, secondly, William Cunningham of Craigends, younger on 22 April 1673.1 She died before 21 March 1688/89.1
     From August 1661, her married name became Cunninghame.1 From 22 April 1673, her married name became Cunningham.1
