     Thomas Nicolson is the son of George Nicolson.2
     He was ancestor of the Nicolsons of Cluny, Nicolsons of Kemnay, Nicolsons of Trabroun and the Nicolsons Baronets of Skye, whose male line is extinct but who are represented by the Badenach-Nicolsons of Glenbervie.1 He lived at Pitmedden, Scotland.1

     James Nicolson was born before 1543.1 He was the son of David Nicolson.2 He married, firstly, Janet Swinton, daughter of John Swinton of that Ilk.1 He married, secondly, Christian Houpe, daughter of John Houpe, before 1563.1 He died after 1574.1
     James Nicolson was a writer (legal practitioner).1 He held the office of Burgess of Edinburgh in 1563.1 He held the office of Sheriff Clerk of Aberdeen between 1563 and 1565.1
