     Sir Thomas Nicolson of Carnock, 3rd Bt. was born on 15 September 1649.1 He was the son of Sir Thomas Nicolson of Carnock, 2nd Bt. and Lady Margaret Livingstone.2 He married Jean Napier, daughter of Archibald Napier, 2nd Lord Napier of Merchistoun, in 1668.1 He died on 20 January 1670 at age 20.1
     Sir Thomas Nicolson of Carnock, 3rd Bt. succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet Nicolson, of Carnock, co. Stirling [N.S., 1637] on 24 July 1664.1

     Jean Napier was the daughter of Archibald Napier, 2nd Lord Napier of Merchistoun.2 She married Sir Thomas Nicolson of Carnock, 3rd Bt., son of Sir Thomas Nicolson of Carnock, 2nd Bt. and Lady Margaret Livingstone, in 1668.1 She died in 1680.1
     From 1668, her married name became Nicolson.1
