     Sir Charles Smyth, 1st Viscount Carrington of Burford was born circa 1598.1 He was the son of Sir Francis Smyth and Anne Markham.1 He married Elizabeth Caryll, daughter of Sir John Caryll and Mary Dormer.2 He died on 22 February 1664/65 at Pontoise, France, murdered by one of his own servants for plunder.1 He was buried at Church of St. Maclou, Pontoise, France.2 He died intestate and his estate was administered to his son on 21 April 1668.2
     Sir Charles Smyth, 1st Viscount Carrington of Burford was invested as a Knight on 28 June 1629.1 He was created 1st Baron Carrington of Wotton, co. Warwick [England] on 31 October 1643.1 He was created 1st Viscount Carrington of Burford, in the Province of Connaught [Ireland] on 4 November 1643.1 On 25 September 1646 his estates were directed to be sold by the Parliament.2
