     Benjamin Raffles was born on 29 July 1739 at St. Anne, Blackfriars, London, England.1 He was baptised on 29 July 1739 at St. Anne, Blackfriars, London, England.1 He was the son of Thomas Raffles and Susanna (?).1 He married Anne Lyde Linderman, daughter of William Linderman and Susannah Leigh, on 21 November 1776.1 He died in 1812.1
     Benjamin Raffles was captain of a merchant ship, and was involved in the slave trade in the Caribbean.1

     Anne Lyde Linderman was born on 1 September 1752 at St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Covent Garden, London, England.1 She was the daughter of William Linderman and Susannah Leigh.1 She married Benjamin Raffles, son of Thomas Raffles and Susanna (?), on 21 November 1776.1 She died in 1824 at St. Martin-in-the-Fields, London, England.1
     From 21 November 1776, her married name became Raffles.1
