     Hugh Nicholas Chance was born on 6 March 1940.1 He is the son of Sir William Hugh Stobart Chance and Cynthia May Baker-Cresswell.2 He married, firstly, Caroline Susan Holmes, daughter of Patrick Edward Michael Holmes and Eleanor Chance, on 4 December 1963.1 He and Caroline Susan Holmes were divorced in 1977.1 He married, secondly, Rose E. Heft, daughter of unknown Heft, in 1990.1
