     Sir David Robert MacGowan Chapman, 3rd Bt. was born on 16 December 1941.1 He is the son of Sir Robert MacGowan Chapman, 2nd Bt. and Barbara May Tonks.2 He married Maria Elizabeth de Gosztonyi-Zsolnay, daughter of Dr. Nicholas de Mattyasovszky-Zsolnay, on 19 June 1965.1
     Sir David Robert MacGowan Chapman, 3rd Bt. was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, England.3 He was educated at University of Grenoble, Grenoble, France.3 He graduated from McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, with a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.).1 He was a partner of Wise Speke, stockbrokers between 1971 and 1987 at Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland, England.1 He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet Chapman, of Underhill, Cleadon, near Sunderland, co.
