Ambrose Boxwell was educated at Shrewsbury School, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England.¹ He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.⁴ He fought in the Boer War between 1901 and 1902, with the Royal Warwickshire Fusiliers.⁴ He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.⁴ He was Military Governor of Basrah between 1915 and 1916.⁴ He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Indian Empire (C.I.E.) in 1916.⁴ He retired from the military in 1927, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, late of the Indian Army.⁴
